SMCC’s 17th Blood Donation Program with PCMC

Building Hope Through Lifesaving Contributions

On February 7, 2026, Sumitomo Mitsui Construction Co., Ltd. (SMCC) proved that its mission goes beyond infrastructure by championing compassion and community care. In partnership with the Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC), SMCC organized its 17th blood donation program—an initiative that not only strengthened its corporate social responsibility efforts but also directly supported the urgent medical needs of children requiring transfusions for surgeries, chronic illnesses, and emergencies.

The drive was hosted at the NSCR-CP02 Project site, where employees from various project locations—including MMSP-Baliuag—came together in solidarity. Their collective effort demonstrated that humanitarian action gains its greatest strength when shared, embodying SMCC’s belief that true progress is measured not only in structures built, but in lives uplifted.

A Day of Giving and Care

The drive began at 8:00 AM and continued until 3:00 PM, guided by PCMC’s team of licensed medical professionals. Donors underwent thorough health screenings—covering blood pressure, medical history, and hemoglobin levels—to ensure safe and effective contributions.
Out of 62 registered employees, 58 successfully donated, each providing 450 ml of blood. This remarkable turnout translates into hundreds of potential lives saved, a testament to the employees’ generosity and commitment.

After donating, participants were welcomed into a recovery area where they received refreshments to regain energy. PCMC also extended heartfelt appreciation by gifting donors colorful cutlery sets—a symbolic reminder of the joy that comes with giving.
Beyond replenishing PCMC’s blood bank, the program highlighted SMCC’s dedication to employee engagement and community wellness. It encouraged staff to embrace volunteerism and demonstrated how collective action can address pressing healthcare challenges.

As SMCC continues to expand its footprint in the Philippines, the company remains steadfast in its pledge to nurture health, wellness, and social responsibility. Plans for future blood donation drives and wellness initiatives are already in motion, reinforcing SMCC’s role as not only a builder of infrastructure but also a builder of stronger, more compassionate communities.
